Great Sunset in Tanjung Gelam Beach

 This is the best place to see the sunset in Karimunjawa Island. The place is in Tanjung Gelam beach. Visitors can reach the place by boat or car or motorcycle. It is not so far from Karimunjawa island. It takes 20 minutes only. 




In this beach, you also can enjoy swimming. The water is very clear and the wave is calm. If you are hungry and thirsty, there are some small stalls that offer visitors fried banana, fried noodle, and young coconut

Shark Breeding in Karimunjawa Island



One of the tourist attractions in Karimunjawa island is shark breeding. It is located in Menjangan Besar island that is only 10 minutes by boat to reach this from Karimunjawa island. If you love swimming with a shark, you should visit this place. You will have a very amazing experience. 


 I was so scare swimming near the shark. It seemed they would bite my legs hahaha. You can hold them but must be very careful. They are many with various size of them. When the guard of the breeding place throws the small fish to attract the group of the sharks, they will come closer to the visitors.

In the same place, you also can see turtle breeding.


Snorkeling in Karimunjawa island



Snorkeling is one of the best outdoor activities in Karimunjawa island. The underwater view is very amazing that most of the tourists are interested in doing this. The area snorkeling is very close to Karimunjawa village. It takes only about 30 minutes to reach the snorkeling spot by fishing boat. There are many islands around Karimunjawa that have the wonderful view for snorkeling such as Menjangan Besar, Tanjung Gelam and Pulau Tengah island.






Karimunjawa National Park Indonesia




The Karimunjawa National Park (KNP) is one of the marine conservation areas in Indonesia. It is located in the northern coast of Central Java. It has an abundance of marine biodiversity that must be maintained as a regional and national asset. Karimunjawa Island encompasses 27 islands but KNP only covers 22 islands. Of 27 islands, only five islands where inhabitants live with several of Indonesian ethnic groups such as Java, Bugis, Makassar, Banjar, Buton, Madurese, Bajau. 

KNP has four villages: Karimunjawa, Kemujan, Parang, and Nyamuk. The Capital of Karimunjawa sub-district is in Karimunjawa village. Most of the government offices, guesthouses, resorts, port are situated in Karimunjawa village. 

The majority of community livelihood is from fishing activities. However, since the implementation of marine protected area in Karimunjwa, many communities change their livelihood from being fishers to become tour guides particularly for the community in Karimunjawa village. For other villages, local people have the same activities in gaining income.
